The Philippine Navy, through the Naval Sea System Command, conducted a Career Orientation Seminar yesterday, March 22, 2024, at the University of Cebu Maritime Education and Training Center. The event aimed to inspire eagerness and commitment among prospective Navy personnel and Naval System Specialists, with a focus on strengthening the Philippine Navy.
The seminar began with a courtesy call attended by the Dean of the Campus, Chairpersons, the Campus Administrator, and representatives from the Naval Sea System Command, including CDR Fransisco, LT Pogoy, Ms. Directo, Ms. Yap, and Ms. Villena. Discussions centered around the partnership between the Philippine Navy and the University of Cebu, as well as an overview of the Career Orientation Seminar.
Held at Audio Visual Room 2 of the Campus, the seminar was attended by selected students from the BSMT, BS MARE, and BS NAME departments. Attendees showed a strong interest in learning about the opportunities available within the Philippine Navy Organization.
"Many people think of a the Navy as a Military sector, and on the top of your mind, you think that the people in the Philippine Navy are the ones incharge with the defense in our surface — in our seas, but there's more in the Philippine Navy Organization that you can actually go on into which includes being a Naval Systems Engineer. We have a lot of oppurtunities as an engineer in the Philippine Navy Organization." Ms. Directo said as she highlighted the benifits in joining the Philippine Navy Organization.
