AWS holds General Assembly, elects new set of officers

The University of Cebu – Maritime Education and Training Center (UC-METC) Association of Working Scholars (AWS) convened for its General Assembly on Saturday, July 6, at Audio-Visual Room (AVR) 1.

The assembly's primary agenda was the election of new officers for the first semester of the Academic Year 2024-2025.

D/C Josh Maverick L. Sereñina was elected as the new AWS President, succeeding the outgoing president, D/C Joriel Mancao, while Ms. Rosegen Muñoz was elected as Vice President. The proceedings were conducted under the supervision of former President Mancao, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership.

Present during the assembly were Campus HR Director Mr. Alvin D. Cuervo and Property Custodian Head and AWS adviser Ms. Diana P. Muñoz.

Mr. Cuervo expressed his gratitude to the outgoing officers while giving reminders to the newly elected officers, who will have their induction and formal turnover in the last week of July.

“I will continue to uphold what the previous administration has started, and will help the association excel in aspects that need improvement,” Sereñina said. “During the term, I will also prioritize strengthening the bond, respect, and camaraderie among my co-working scholars.”

The event underscored AWS's commitment to effective governance and continued representation of the working scholars at UC-METC.

Anchor Publication's Inaugural Summit Marks Relaunch with 'LAOM' Magazine Debut and Achievements Celebration

The Anchor Publication, the official student publication of the University of Cebu – Maritime Education and Training Center, held its inaugural Anchor Summit to celebrate the relaunch, revival, achievements, and accomplishments of the organization. A highlight of the event was the launch of Anchor’s newest magazine, “LAOM.” The Summit began with formal opening remarks by Campus Director and Dean of the College of Maritime Education, Capt. Gerry D. Enjambre. “Always remember to maintain your integrity and show students that you are deserving of their trust,” Capt. Enjambre advised the campus scribes.
